At one point or another, many people have cause to wonder if their partner is cheating on them.
In the case of a guy cheating on his girlfriend, the signs are often fairly obvious to someone who is looking for them, and who knows what to look for. The following is a list of some areas to take a closer look at if you suspect that your guy might be cheating on you. Keep in mind that (for the most part) any one or even a couple of these things taken on their own is probably not an indication that there is cheating going on, as there can be several reasons for most of the things on the list occurring. If you do see a pattern of behavior developing which involves a combination of several of the following signs simultaneously then it might be time to get suspicious.
Emotional
* Distance. When you are with your boyfriend, does he seem like he is far away? This can happen when you are alone and even when you are with friends and family. You might catch him staring off at nothing or find his attention wandering in the middle of a conversation (unless it's the football game that's got his attention). He might be acting more loving towards you than ever before (a compensation for guilt) or he could be acting like he wishes you were not there at all (he's thinking of someone else).
* Tension. Little things that were not previously issues in the relationship seem to trigger huge battles. It's easier than usual to find yourself in the middle of a big fight and a lot harder than usual to make up afterwards. Look for strange behavior after a fight as well; especially if he leaves for a long time during one.
Intimate differences
* Sudden changes in the physical relationship are often a tell-tale sign. A loss of interest in your physical relationship could mean he's "getting it" elsewhere, but it could also be brought on by stress or a number of other factors.
* Cheaters are often eager to break out of an embrace. Previously you would hold each other for a while and you had fun just kissing, but these small signs of affection will diminish or disappear, this may be due to someone else receiving his true affections.
Physical Details
Some of the most obvious signs of cheating are physical details -- things you can see. Often, they are pretty easy to spot, but be careful because unless you are careful he may well catch on to what you are doing.
* Is he all of a sudden taking an interest in dressing differently, or putting on a new scent?
* Pay attention to his appearance. Is he noticeably ruffled when returning from somewhere, in ways that raise your suspicions? Most guys don't know it, but there are certain changes in the way our hair goes when we have been intimate with someone. You are bound to have picked up on this at some point in your relationship.
* Be especially suspicious of a clean, well-groomed man in times when no shower should have taken place. One thing most guys do know is that a woman can smell another woman's perfume, shampoo, whatever after he's been with her. Look out for clean behavior!
If you can get over the natural denial, you should be able to trust your instincts to tell you if your man is cheating. Your subconscious will be handing you dozens of different cues and clues when your relationship changes; most people are not really surprised when the affair is confirmed, because they really already knew. Just to say it one more time: it is important to remember any of the above behavior can mean a variety of things and not necessarily an affair.
An misplaced confrontation might be just the push to actually get him to cheat. Try not to accuse until you know for sure.
